In the heart of the Salzkammergut lies the biggest skiing area of Upper Austria.
40 lifts and cable railways connect 130 kilometres of ski slopes among Gosau, Russbach and Annaberg. Free ski buses buses operate between the villages.
In Gosau, at the ground station of the cable railway, the „Familienland Gosau“ with the „Sumsiwiese“ are ideal for the children.
In Russbach kids have the chance to have fun at the „Spatzennest“. The guests of the skiing area Dachstein-West especially value the family-friendly and wide slopes down to the valley.
Moreover Gosau and the skiing area Dachstein-West are known as „Schneeloch“ (snow hole).
Due to the mountains which surround the region the clouds get caught and bring heavy snowfalls. Snow cannons are responsible for the snow in the lower parts of skiing regio.
