A nice one-day-walk through the woods and the historical precious region of the grindstone quarry to the nature reservation area of Löckermoos.
The climbing will take you about two to three hours and you will manage 700 metres of altitude. Climbing back down is also possible to the Mittertal or Hintertal. The path is not marked that well and sometimes damaged by lumber work.
Furthermore there are not any huts to be found for taking a break, except for the time during „Kultursommer“, when there are events at the grindstone quarry.

The hike starts at the gas station. The street crosses the Gosaubach and leads up to the last houses. A wide gravel road guides the way along the stream steeply. After some time the wide road turns into a little pathway through the woods. This place is ideal for everyone who likes to collect mushrooms. One hour further you get to a lonesome hut by a meadow. But we continue our way on the right side of the meadow into the woods again. 20 minutes later the path meets the forest street. You go right until you come to a crossing. Here you turn left and get to the grindstone quarry eventually.
A hiking trail leads along the forest street to the grindstone quarry. Cross the meadow and walk to the first hut on the left side. Then you turn right and follow the way to the Löckersee. After a short ascent through a blueberry area you finally reach the Löckermoor. The „Latschen“ turn your way into a maze which you have to walk through to get to the lookout point. Please beware of the marshy ground! Keep in mind that you are walking through a nature reservation area. Please do not leave the marked paths!
Finally he appears…..the Löckersee! A tiny lake which reflects the whole mountain area all around it.

You go back down the same way. When you come to the grindstone quarry huts you get to the forest street which brings you to the grindstone quarry in five minutes. Sometimes you can even meet quarrymen here which is why it is worth a short visit. Next you follow the same way you have come back down again. A journey to the Mittertal or Hintertal is also possible here. But the paths are not marked very well.
