A relaxed hike for the whole family through the woods and past alpine pastures. The Iglmoosalm and the Goisererhütte offer a possibility to take a break. At last the peak of the Kalmberg awards by offering a spectacular panorama.
Depending on the season you will find plenty of berries and mushrooms on the way.
Your hike will take you three to four hours time, 1000 metres altitude. You go back down the same trail or down to Bad Goisern.
1,5 hours to the Iglmoosalm, 1206 metres above the sea level.
1 hour to the Goisererhütte, 1596 metres above the sea level.
1,5 hours to the top.
In the Vordertal Ramsau, about 50 metres before you get to Cafe Reiter, coming from Bad Ischl, turn right. After 300 metres you will reach the forest street. The parking lot is right at the gate. From here the marked path goes up steeply through the woods to the Iglmoosalm, 1206 metres above the sea level.
The paths will take you further along the forest street. Then you will cross them a couple of times until you get to a crossover of the street. The road turns right sharply here and goes on through the „Saugrube“, past the Schartenalm, to the Goiserer Hütte. www.goisererhuette.at
A narrow pathway, about 10 minutes after the Goiserer Hütte, leads its way to the Kalmooskirche, a cave below the marked trail. This is the place where the protestants held their secret services during the countermovement of the Reformation.
The path meets the marked way again after the cave. Shortly before reaching the peak you will recognize the Kalmbergkopf, the „Indianer“. Incase of good weather you will be able to enjoy a nice view of the valleys around. The Ausseer Land, Totes Gebirge, Sarstein, Dachstein, Plassen, Gosaukamm, Tennengebirge and the Gamsfeld form the fascinating panorama!
Your journey back down will be the same again. You can also go down to Bad Goisern from this point in one and a half hours. At last your way will lead you past the alpine pastures to Gosau.
