This hike can be managed leisurely in two days with a sleep over in the Hofpürgelhütte. Trained hikers could cover the trail in one day (about eight to ten hours).
If you choose to start from the Gosausee in the direction of the Steiglpass – Hofpürgelhütte the journey will take a bit longer. Furthermore this way provides the advantage of a more relaxed way back home with huts and possibilities to take a break.
Beware not to miss the last cable car down from the Zwieselalm to the Gosausee. When you come to the sector Gosausee-Hofpürglhütte you will not find any sources or huts which are open to the public.
The hiking paths are marked pretty well. Some parts can be steep and a few places are safeguarded by a rope. You will be hiking in an alpine area. For this reason a good hiking equipment and good weather are essential for your tour. You will have to consider the possibility of having to pass snow covered fields until June.
