Gosau is surrounded by the wonderful landscape of the UNESCO Cultural Heritage of the World region „Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut".Every person who enjoys nature will be happy about various hiking and climbing possibilities devided up into different levels of difficulty. Many huts which are open to the public, lakes and clear alpine streams are ideal for a break.
To the „Hinterer Gosausee“: This hike takes you about half a day time. The trail leads you past lakes and streams with a nice view towards the Dachstein and a welcome opportunity to bathe in the summer.
Curcuit from the Hintertal to the Ebenalm :back with a phenomenal view to the Dachstein, the Gosaukamm and the Gosausee. Mediocre in terms of level of difficulty. You should plan a half a day for the hike.
Around the Gosaukamm: mediocre one day hike in terms of difficulty. Stamina and experience in hiking are required. It leads you past lonesome cirques and you will enjoy extraordinary views over the mountain peaks.
Hoher Kalmberg: Easy one day hike through the woods and past alpine meadows with possibilities to take a rest and a nice alpine view.
To the Löckersee: A hiking tour which is quite manageable, along lonesome alpine meadows and through the woods in the nature reserve.
Plassen: mediocre concerning the level of difficulty, experience and stamina required.
From the Gosausee past the Zwieselalm to the Herrenweg towards Gosau: This hiking tour is easy to manage. It will take you through the woods, past alpine meadows which can be taken in any direction you want. Furthermore it provides nice sights down upon the valley. Your journey up the trail can also be substituted by cable railway.
Donnerkogel: As far as this tour is concerned it will take you about half a day. You should have experience. Starting point is the Zwieselalm. You should have a good head for heights. Moreover you will have a nice view down to the Gosausee, to the Gosaukamm and the Dachstein. It can be very slippery if it has rained.
Adamekhütte: This trail is easy to manage and leads you through the mountains on nice trails. For more information as far as the Adamekhütte and the journey to the Dachstein are concerned can be found under: www.adamek.at
Dachstein: A tour of two days, journey past Adamekhütte, trail over the glacier and climbing to the peak. Experience in high alpine regions is absolutely essential. If you don´t have the essential experience you can book a guided tour.
Sarstein: An easy day tour from the Pötschenkehre in Bad Goisern. From the peak, wonderful view down to the valley of Gosau, Gosaukamm, Halstättersee and towards the Ausseerland.
Gamsfeld: From our close neighbour Russbach the steep journey will take you to meadows, wonderful panorama peaks and will give you the possibility to enjoy the sight of the Dachstein, the Wolfgangsee and huts which are open to the public can be found.
Bodenberg: This mountain is situated in the village Russbach which lies nearby, too. The hike is an easy half a day tour or can be managed as a big hike which will take you around further.
Fountain of youth path in Russbach: 4.5 km long cirquit for the whole family above Russbach. Start at local authorities or the alpine guesthouse „zum Hias“.
