Tour discription und pictures by Heinz Hörhager
A relaxed tour, good for running in, containing beautiful views of the Gosautal and the Gosaukamm mountains. The parts of the route below and above the Iglmoosalm(1200m) are most attractive.
Taking a break at the Iglmoosalm is the best opportunity for eating a nice snack.
route length: about 17km
altitude: an estimated 700m
Highest point: 1.400m
time for driving: about 2 hours
paving: mostly gravel, sometimes tarmac
Starting point:
touris information Gosau (760m) - further along the Paß-Gschütt-Bundesstraße - after about 2km the forest street comes up to the right - turn-off to Iglmoos - 2km ahead you will come to a street in the direction of Russberg/Vierbauernhütte. But we will continue on the right route- After almost 4km you will reach the Iglmoosalm (1.200m) - again 2km ahead you will get to a marker of the tour in the Wieshochwald(ca. 1.400m).
You can make a short side trip on foot to the Wiesalm(ca.1400m), to the Goisererhütte(1.592m) and further to the Hoher Kamberg(1.833m), if you wish.
Whether the forest streets will be open to the bikers from the reversal point down to the Goisererhütte, to the Wiesalm by the year of 2003, is not sure yet.
A secret tip for the way back home for bikers with downhill skills: Just right below the Iglmoosalm, away from the forest street- drive along the summer hiking trail Gosau/Ramsau, an ideal and callenging exercise at the same time- then you drive back the graveled road- 2,5km away from the Iglmoos you turn left sharply at the crossing in the direction of Kreuzgraben/Ramsau
4km later you will finally reach the valley of Gosau/Ramsau - the asphaltic street brings you down to the starting point, the tourist information Gosau.
