Journey

Gosau is situated in a high-lying valley in the Inner Salzkammergut, 767 metres above the sea level, in Upper Austria to the foot of the Dachstein.
Furthermore it belongs to the UNESCO Cultural Heritage of the World region „Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut“.
The village and ist surroundings are famous for their beauty of nature and the richness of snow.

Journey by train:
You can reach Gosau by train from the north, the west and the east on the western railway.
For this reason you have to change trains in Attnang-Puchheim.
Your next train usually departs from platform 21 . From Attnang-Puchheim you travel to Steeg-Gosau. This is your last station. From here you take the Postbus to Gosau, which  takes approximately 15 minutes time.
If you decide to come from the south you can head to Gosau from Graz, Liezen, Bad Aussee and Steeg Gosau, from where you catch the bus to Gosau…

By car:
From the north and the west:
You can reach Gosau from the Salzburg freeway A1. The you continue driving on the Tauernautobahn freeway A10 till Golling and further past Abtenau, Russbach past the Pass Gschüt, 957 above sea level, until you get to Gosau. It will take you about an hour to get from Salzburg to Gosau.
From the east: You will take the A1 freeway to Regau, then past Gmunden, Bad Ischl and Bad Goisern.
The time for travelling which you have to calculate from Linz to Gosau will amount an estimated 2 hours (1 hour to Gmunden).
From the south: You get on the Tauernautobahn freeway till Golling, further past Abtenau and Russbach until you reach the Pass Gschütt, 957 above the sea level. It leads you directly to Gosau.

 

By airplane
